I'm sorry...
Vancouver, BC - June 16th, 2008
My ears are still ringing!
I am at work now (unfortunately... kind of feeling it today if you know what I mean) and I don't have the setlist with me. However, it was about an hour and 20 to 30 minutes of Theory doing what they do best. Awesome!
Unfortunately, Crutch wasn't in the setlist. Too bad... [B)]
Also, at the end of the show, Tyler announced that they are filming the video for Bad Girlfriend in Vancouver on Thursday, June 19th, 2008. It will be at the Penthouse Nite Club (which is *I think* at www.penthousenightclub.com) and sounds like it is going to be GREAT.
They asked for volunteers to sign up to be extras in the video, so if you cruise down there early you just might be able to be in the video!
UPDATE: Check this thread for more information about the the video and how to be an extra!
Oops... black eye from CFOX.
Now, for the most part, I won't start a gossipy-type thread as this, but I can't get this one of my mind.
Did anyone in the Vancouver area catch the comment by Todd Handc*ck or Danger on the "CFOX Rock Report Top 10 of '05" last Friday?
I didn't hear it myself, but I have heard from two completely different sources. Apparently, during Theory's lead up segment on their inclusion in the Year's Top 10 albums (good stuff!) one of the hosts made a comment about how the band has taken many steps to get out of the Nickelback shadow. Then they mentioned how copying NB by also replacing their drummer wasn't doing anything to ease the comparisons.
Say what? [:0]
And this is from a radio station that is very friendly with BOTH bands.
No disrespect intended to any of the people involved in the comment or the various members of the bands, but that was kind of an odd thing for the station to say...
...ESPECIALLY when the two events were separated by about a year. In reality, Nickelback replaced their drummer well after the boys from Theory. In fact, the first I heard of Daniel Adair replacing Ryan Vikedal was the same night I had just watched Brent Fitz play his first live gig with Theory of a Deadman in Houston, Texas on January 18th, '05.
I wonder if the hosts will air some sort of retraction on thier obvious mistake?

******************************************** Warning: This is pretty long. Get yourself a comfortable chair and settle in if you think you want to read the whole thing... ********************************************
A couple of months ago, I heard about Theory headlining the CFOX 'Santa Fox Ball' at the Commodore. For whatever reason, I didn't jump on rounding up tickets... Big Mistake. Before you could say "asleep at the switch" the event was sold out. Completely. [B)] Luckily, a second night was added (the following night) and I wasn't stoopid enough so as to miss out on that one.
Why am I telling you this? Well, last Thursday night... I'd decided to stay at work late to distract myself from missing not only night one of the 'Santa Fox' ball... but also the fact that this would be the first time I had missed a Theory show in Vancouver. [:0]
So... I'm packing up from work and defrosting my van at about 9:30PM, ready to call it a night... when my phone rings. It's my buddy Scott, also know as the boyfriend of Darlene who is also known as the sister of Dean:
Scott: "You wanna go to the show tonight?" Me: "Nice joke, thanks. No tickets... can't get it..." Scott: "You got a ticket now... Dean's uncle can't make it. Get down here. The guys are on at about 10:30" Me: "Goodby..." *click*
So I jumped in the van and set a land speed record getting downtown... which was probably not the smartest thing to do for a couple of reasons:
(1) Have you seen my van? Not what you'd call road-worthy. (2) Neglected to scrape the windows and it was damn cold and icy out.
Anyways, after a little parking fiasco in downtown Vancouver, I met up with the afore mentioned Scott & Darlene, plus Dean's Mom and Dad (probably the most awesome parents in rock 'n roll...) and some other assorted friends and family. Thanks again to the Back family for the ticket!

Hello strangers!
Just recovering from back-to-back Theory shows at the 'Santa Fox' ball in Vancouver!
Didn't get any shots from the 15th, but a bunch of 'em from the 16th are here:

I'll post some highlight photos here in a bit, but I wanna get a show review up first!
I'm sorry...
Hello everyone!
I fell off the Theory-verse and feel like a dead-beat Dad again. [B)] There's all sorts of reasons why I haven't been here (life, health, public, private) but no excuses for leaving a place that feels so much like home to me.
Then today, out of nowhere at work the Fox played "Say Goodbye" and it was like a light went on. I realized that I hadn't listed to anything other than the radio for months. Then it all came flooding back and I really felt guilty about flaking out.
After running through the first record and "Gasoline" tonight for the first time in much, much too long, I rediscovered just how much Theory of a Deadman absolutely kicks a$$.
To the board: What's shakin? I probably have a review or two due, huh? [:I]
To the guys: Howzit going? Not only have I been MIA, but I lost my old phone so I can't even call up and harass you! [;)]
So, what've I missed? I know I missed the shoot for "Santa Monica" and the show in Seattle a few weeks back. I KNOW there's lots more, so point me in the right direction or fill me in!
(p.s. Anne: Yes, thank you, I did get your check in call. I was much too embarassed to call back and I appologize. Thanks for thinking of me.)
